Les cascades de Gimel (Parc Vuillier)
The Gimel waterfalls (Vuillier Park), in Gimel Les Cascades
Vuillier Park, located in Gimel-les-Cascades in Corrèze, is a natural gem offering an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and history buffs. This enchanting site is renowned for its three successive waterfalls formed by the Montane River, totaling a drop of 143 meters:
- The Big Jump : an impressive fall of 45 meters.
- La Redole : an elegant 38-meter waterfall.
- The Horsetail : a majestic 60-meter waterfall plunging into the mysterious "chasm of inferno."
These waterfalls were immortalized by Abel Hugo, brother of Victor Hugo, in his work "La France pittoresque" in 1883. The park owes its name to the painter Gaston Vuillier, who landscaped it between 1893 and 1899, adding an artistic dimension to this already spectacular place.
While exploring the park's marked trails, visitors can admire the wild beauty of the waterfalls, surrounded by lush vegetation and impressive rock formations. The park's peaceful setting and serene atmosphere provide an ideal getaway to recharge and reconnect with nature.
